Ushihama is about a 10-minute walk from Gate 5. Haijima is the best rail hub, with four lines, but it is the furthest walk to the base. Station averages for a 1LDK run about ¥80,000 to ¥85,000 a month, and a 2LDK about ¥75,000 to ¥91,000, before parking and fees.

Why Choose Ome Line Apartments Near Yokota by Station?
Most Yokota housing guides sort the area by town: Fussa, Hamura, Akishima, Mizuho. That works if you drive everywhere. It does not tell you which gate you can walk to, or how a working spouse gets to Tachikawa or Shinjuku.
Picking by station fixes that. The JR Ome Line runs south of the base, and the JR Hachiko Line runs along its west fence. Four stations on these two lines sit within walking or short driving distance of the Route 16 gates.
This guide compares those four stations side by side. For the full housing process, including OHA, SOFA paperwork and invoice-based rent, read our Yokota Air Base apartments guide. For the car-based towns north of the base, see our Mizuho apartments guide.

Which Yokota Gate Is Closest to Each Station?
Your gate matters more than your town. A home 5 minutes from the “wrong” gate can mean a 15-minute loop around the fence every morning.
Fussa Gate (Gate 2) is the main gate used for most daily traffic. It faces Route 16, near the Yokota koban. Fussa Station is about a 12-minute walk away. Higashi-Fussa is also within walking distance.
Gate 5 (Supply Gate) sits further south on Route 16, near the Itsukaichi Kaido junction. The Japan Air Self-Defense Force gives the walk from Ushihama Station’s east exit as about 10 minutes. From Haijima, it is about 20 minutes.
East Gate is on the other side of the base, off McGuire Avenue. Seibu-Tachikawa Station on the Seibu Haijima Line is about 10 minutes away by taxi. None of the four stations in this guide is a good fit for an East Gate commute.
Gate hours change with base policy. Gate 5 in particular has run limited, mostly weekday daytime hours for some users. Check the current gate schedule with your unit before you choose a station based on it.
| If you use… | Look first at… | Then consider… |
|---|---|---|
| Fussa Gate (Gate 2) | Fussa, Higashi-Fussa | Ushihama (north side of the station) |
| Gate 5 (Supply Gate) | Ushihama | Haijima |
| East Gate | Not this line; look at Akishima and Musashimurayama | Seibu Haijima Line stations |
Ome Line Apartments Near Yokota: Rent by Station (2026)
The table below shows at home station averages by layout. All four stations average about ¥68,000 to ¥71,000 across every listing.
| Station | 1K | 1LDK | 2LDK | 3LDK | All listings |

| Fussa | ¥59,000 | ¥80,000 | ¥75,000 | ¥130,000 | ¥68,000 |
| Ushihama | ¥61,000 | ¥82,000 | ¥91,000 | ¥90,000 | ¥69,000 |
| Haijima | ¥54,000 | ¥85,000 | ¥88,500 | ¥111,000 | ¥69,000 |
| Higashi-Fussa | ¥57,000 | ¥81,500 | ¥79,000 | ¥130,000 | ¥71,000 |
Source: at home, average rent for listings near each station over the last three months, checked October 2026. Averages exclude parking.
Three things stand out in the data.
The 2LDK figure depends on the building mix. Fussa’s 2LDK average is lower than its 1LDK average. That is because Fussa has many older 2LDK units in wooden or light-steel buildings. Newer 2LDK units near the station cost more.
Station averages sit below “SOFA-ready” rents. These averages include every listing, including old units with no parking. Homes that pass a base housing inspection, include parking and accept rent by invoice usually cost more. Our Yokota Air Base apartments guide puts a 2LDK with parking in Fussa at about ¥100,000 to ¥150,000.
3LDK figures are thin. Few 3LDK units list near each station at any time. A handful of detached houses can push the average to ¥130,000. Treat 3LDK numbers as a rough guide only.
Fussa Station: The All-Rounder
Fussa (福生) is the main station for the area and the default starting point for most renters. It has a Seiyu supermarket linked to the east exit by a walkway, plus chain restaurants, drugstores and a Toyoko Inn for your first nights.
To the base: about 12 minutes on foot to the Fussa Gate area on Route 16. Many people drive, but walking is realistic.
To Tokyo: Chuo/Ome rapid trains reach Shinjuku in about 44 to 50 minutes. Some Ome Line trains run straight through to Tokyo Station. Tachikawa is about 20 minutes.
Who it suits: families who want shops near home, newcomers who want the widest choice of units, and anyone who wants rapid trains without a transfer.
Watch for: the west exit area is under redevelopment, so expect some construction. Streets near the station are narrow, so check parking access before you sign.
Ushihama Station: Closest to Gate 5
Ushihama (牛浜) is one stop south of Fussa. It was first built in 1940 as a stop for staff at the old Tama airfield, the site that later became Yokota. Today it is a small, local station with a supermarket and convenience stores nearby.
To the base: about 10 minutes on foot from the east exit to Gate 5, along Itsukaichi Kaido toward Route 16.
To Tokyo: about 15 minutes to Tachikawa on the Ome Line, then the Chuo Line onward. Rapid trains to Shinjuku also stop here.
Who it suits: service members and contractors who use Gate 5, and renters who want a quieter street than central Fussa. Ushihama’s 1K and 1LDK averages are close to Fussa’s, so you are not paying much for the shorter walk.
Watch for: few restaurants near the station. Fussa is one stop away for more choice. Streets near Route 16 get busy during base events like the Friendship Festival.

Haijima Station: Best for a Commuting Spouse
Haijima (拝島) sits in Akishima City at the junction of four lines: the JR Ome, Itsukaichi and Hachiko lines, plus the Seibu Haijima Line. No other station near Yokota gives you this many options.
To the base: about 20 minutes on foot to Gate 5. Yokota’s own Force Support Squadron magazine puts the drive to the main gate at about 8 minutes. The station also has affordable parking.
To Tokyo: Shinjuku in about 45 to 50 minutes via Tachikawa on JR. The Seibu Haijima Line gives a second route into central Tokyo through Kodaira and Takadanobaba. The Hachiko Line reaches Hachioji in about 15 minutes.
Who it suits: families where one partner works in Tachikawa, Hachioji or central Tokyo, and anyone who wants a backup route when one line is delayed. It is also a good pick if you drive to work but want options for weekends.
Watch for: 1LDK and 2LDK averages are slightly higher than at Fussa. The walk to the base is long, so plan on a car or bike. North of the tracks is Akishima City, while some addresses near the station fall in Fussa or Hamura, so check the exact ward office for registration.

Higashi-Fussa Station: The Hachiko Line Option
Higashi-Fussa (東福生) is on the JR Hachiko Line, not the Ome Line, but it sits so close to the base that it belongs in this comparison. It sits right on the base’s west edge. Just north of the station, the tracks run between base land on both sides.
To the base: about 13 minutes on foot to the base along local streets. Route 16 and the Base Side Street shops are close by. Fussa Station is about an 11-minute walk if you want Ome Line rapid trains.
To Tokyo: the Hachiko Line runs about every 30 minutes at midday. Ride south to Haijima for the Ome Line, or to Hachioji for the Chuo and Keio lines. Northbound trains run through to Kawagoe.
Who it suits: single service members and couples who drive or bike to the base, and anyone who likes the Route 16 area. Local reviews describe the area around the station as quiet and residential.
Watch for: trains are much less frequent than on the Ome Line. Homes north of the station sit closer to the runway, so visit at different times of day to check aircraft noise.

How to Rent Ome Line Apartments Near Yokota
- Confirm your gate and hours. Ask your unit which gate you will use most and its current hours. Then pick one or two stations from the gate table above.
- Set your budget against OHA. Compare your ceiling with the station averages, then add parking. Our move-in cost guide breaks down the upfront fees.
- Check walking time and parking. A listing that says “15 minutes from Fussa” may still be far from your gate. Our guide on walking distance to train stations explains how listing times are measured.
- Visit for aircraft noise. Homes in line with the runway hear more aircraft. Go at different times of day.
- Use a landlord who knows SOFA tenants. You will need a landlord or management company that accepts SOFA documents and rent by invoice. The Yokota Air Base apartments guide covers the paperwork step by step.
